At about 4 o'clock p.m. Thursday, May 8th, Joe Macha Sr., passed away from this earth and took his place among the myriad of those who have gone before. He had been taken with an incurable malady and had been lingering along for several months. It was finally seen that the end was near and he prepared himself for the worst. Skillful physicians had done their best to prolong his life, but all to no purpose. Mr. Macha was 57 years, 7 months and 8 days old. He is survived by his wife and eight children, all boys. Mr. Macha was a man of strong likes and dislikes, he had his faults and his frailties and yet he possessed many good traits. He was charitable to a fault and was always ready to assist the needy and the helpless. The widow and the orphan never appealed to him in vain, and he never boasted of his good deeds. He was patriotic and always freely responded to his country's call and had one son in the navy. He was liberal with his children and denied them nothing that they should have. Let us cast the eye of pity on his faults and leave them to be judged in the Great Beyond. After life's fitful fever he sleeps well, may he rest in peace. His remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery Friday evening, May 9th, and the services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Dziewas and two lodges, the S.P.S.T. Bohemian lodge and the Herman Sons.
