Name and date of newspaper unknown. Hungerford -- Leroy William Macha, 77, of Hungerford, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000. He was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Hungerford, to the late Frank and Annie Klimek Macha. He was owner of Macha Grocery from 1947 to 1974 and was former Wharton County Precinct No. 2 Commissioner from 1975 to 1982. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church where he served on the council. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of East Bernard VFW Post No. 226. He was a charter member of the Hungerford Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the Hungerford School Board and former board director of the Houston Galveston Area Council. He was a 1940 graduate of Wharton High School and a 1945 graduate of Texas A&M University. Survivors: wife, Ann Macha; daughter, Judy Macha Brown of Houston; sons, Larry Macha of Belleville and Gene Macha of Hungerford, and five grandchildren. Preceded in death by: parents; brother, Raymond Macha. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today at Wharton Funeral Home chapel. Wake services will be 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home chapel.
