Mission - Theodore Frank Machac, 92, died Jan. 25, 1998 at McAllen Nursing Center. Born in Flatonia, Texas, Machac had lived in McCook, Texas for 66 years. He was a farmer. Mr. Machac was a pioneer farmer in the McCook area since 1931. He was a board member instrumental in the founding of Immaculate Conception Church in McCook. He was awarded the John Campamus Holm Award for outstanding accomplishment in the field of meteorological observations, assisting the National Weather Service for 34 years. He established the Catholic Union of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley and served as an election judge for many years. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Kremel Machac of McCook, one son, Frank Machac of McCook; three daughters, Ida Mae Keller of McCook, Evelyn Kotara of McCook and Rosie Lee Hommel of Raymondville; 22 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Machac, in October 1997. Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. today, Jan. 27, 1998, with a 7 p.m. rosary at Virgil Wilson Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Immaculate Conception Church in McCook. Father Thomas Kulleck of Immaculate Conception Church in McCook will officiate. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: David Machac, Daniel Keller, Bonny Ray Kotara, Stephen Hommel, Kenneth Hommel, Michael Machac, George Keller, Frank Machac Jr., Gregory Hommel and Jeffrey Hommel. Virgil Wilson Mortuary in Mission is in charge of arrangements.
