Funeral services for Tonie Machala, 90, of Fayetteville were held Aug. 19 at St. John's Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Burial was in the Fayetteville Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Msgr. Ben Mazurkiewicz officiated. Mrs. Machala died Aug. 15 in LaGrange. Born July 20, 1908 in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of Joe F. and Mary (Prihoda) Chovanec. She married her first husband, Charles A. Drab on Jan. 27, 1931 in Fayetteville and her second husband, William L. Machala on Nov. 5, 1951 in Crosby. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy Lyssy and her husband Steve and Carlean Sury and her husband Edmund, all of Fayetteville; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Drab and his wife Sandra of Dripping Springs; a brother, Frankie J. Chovanec of Louise; two sisters, Mary Hrachovy of Ellinger and Frances Gregory of Baytown; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, parents, brother Henry Chovanec, sister Claudia Hrachovy, and infant son James Edward Drab and half-sister Christina Zapalac. Koenig-Peel & Strickland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
