RAYMOND MACHART

 

Raymond Machart, 92, of El Campo died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997. He was born Aug. 16, 1905 in Praha to Vaclav and Marie Riha Machart.

Mr. Machart was a retired farmer, carpenter, and painter and a member of St. Philip's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda Machart of El Campo; sons Melvin Machart of Cold Springs and Allen Machart of The Woodlands; daughters Evelyn Schaefer of Hallettsville, Dorothy Gleason of Schulenburg, Sharon Johnston of Brenham, and Norma Wasek, Marilyn Lutringer and Ann Arnold of El Campo; sister, Rosalie Gayle of Corpus Christi; and 23 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim, Stanley, John, Frank, August, Martin, Bohumil, and Bill Machart; and sisters Mary Ziegel and Ludmilla Fikac.

A Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 p.m. Thursday at St. Philip's Catholic Church with the Rev. Thu Nguyen and Deacon Jarrel Nohavitza officiating. Entombment will be in the Holly Cross Memorial Park under the direction of Triska Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are James Pierce, Brian and Nathan Machart, Eric Wasek, Edward Wasek, Jr., Ray Talmage and Michael Lutringer.

Honorary pallbearers are Larry Gleason, Curt Lutringer, Chris and Bruce Machart and Timothy Johnston.

Memorials may be made to the St. Philip School Endowment Fund and the Victoria Diocese Fund for Retired Priests.
