Friday, May 9, 2003 Page 11, Section A James "Jim" Nitsche, 86, of Killeen died Sunday, April 27 [2003] at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Funeral services were held April 30 [2003] at First Baptist Church in Killeen with burial in the Killeen City Cemetery. A military funeral was held. The Rev. Randy Wallace officiated. Nitsche was born Nov. 24, 1916 in Fayette County, the son of Henry and Frances (Jurcak) Nitsche. He married Catherine Tern, who preceded him in death in January 1985. He made the army his career, was a World War II veteran, and then retired in Killeen. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Weiss of Harker Heights; grandson, James Weiss of Salt Lake City, Utah; granddaughter, Terri Lynn Weiss of Killeen; brother, Nolan Nitsche; and sisters, Nettie Linke of Brenham, Rosie Scholtz of La Grange, Flossie Jacob of Rockdale, and Mildred Blount of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his wife; infant daughter; parents; brother, Henry Nitsche; and sister, Stella Moellendorf. Crawford Funeral Home of Killeen was in charge of arrangements.
