Funeral services for Howard R Norhawitz, 74, of Columbus, were held June 23 at Mathis Cemetery in Wallis with Rev Forrest Wood officiating. He died June 20 at his residence near Columbus. He was born Nov 29, 1925 in Weimar, the son of Edward and Pauline (Smurek) Norhawitz. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II and was a rigger for an iron works company. He had resided in the Columbus area for the past 15 years and was a member of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Survivors include a son, Danny Norhawitz and wife Donna of San Antonio; daughter, Diana Norhawitz of San Antonio; sisters, Annie Pryor of Silver Springs, Md, and Cassie Newman of Channelview, Tx; granddaughter, Stephanie Norhawitz; numerous nieces and nephews.
