ANNIE (JANECEK) NOVAK

Shiner Gazette
16 Mar 1939

Grief has again entered a home in our city and taken the mother of the family, leaving the hearts of her husband and children, desolate. When Mrs. Emil Novak left this world last Thursday morning, March 9th., God took a wonderful mother away from her earthly suffering. Although ill for many months, Mrs. Novak had shown remarkable recuperative powers and it was hoped and believe she would again triumph over Death and remain with her loved ones awhile longer, but the Merciful Father decreed otherwise and this time Death was the victor.

Funeral services were arranged for Saturday morning, the funeral procession leaving the family residence at 9 o'clock. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. E. Bily who also officiated at the grave. Rt. Rev. Mons. Netardus delivered a beautiful tribute to the deceased in the Czech language. She was laid to rest in the local Catholic Cemetery amid a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. The deep and sincere sympathy of these was expressed in a profusion of beautiful flowers. Several beautiful and comforting hymns were rendered at the grave by a mixed choir.

Casket bearers were nephews: Bill, Ben and Leonard Novak, Laddie Kubecka, Julius Janecek of Moulton and Ben Pesek of Sweet Home.

Mrs. Novak, nee Annie Janecek, covered the span of live in 44 years and 16 days. She was born in Flatonia. On October 26th, 1919 she was united in marriage to Emil Novak at the local Catholic Church, Rev. Wolf performing the ceremony. Four children came to bless their home namely: Stella, Annie Louise, Edwin and Dennis, these with their grief-stricken father survive. Other survivors are: her mother, Mrs. Frank Janecek of Moulton and B. F. Janecek of Wallis; sisters: Mrs. Paul Klekar, Mrs. Ed. Kubecka and Mrs. Ed. Kloesel of Shiner and Mrs. A. T. Pesek of Sweet Home.

Mrs. Novak was a devoted wife and mother and a dutiful daughter, her chief pleasures being centered in her home. We cannot say too much about the sacrificial life of this good lady, and we know that heaven's richest blessing will be her reward. Her sweet memory will be a benediction to all who called her their friend.

We sympathize with the family in their grief and commend them to the Loving Father who heals all wounds and dries all tears.

May God heal with his touch the hearts that are bleeding, Soothe with his Love the anguish and pain, For all our souls to eternity are speeding And some day, we shall all meet Mother again.
