Funeral services for Frank Nowak, 88, of Wallis will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis. Father Richard Johnston will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Wallis. Pallbearers will be Frankie Ferrell, Steve Ferrell, Ben Janecek, Chris Janecek, Bennie Kovar Jr. and Greg Nowak. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at Knesek Funeral Home, 122 North FM 1093 in Wallis Frank Alvin Nowak was born June 5, 1914 to Joe and Stella Nowak of Chappell Hill. Our beloved father passed away peacefully on Sept. 10, 2002 at the Rosenberg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rosenberg. Frank worked as a cook and bridge repairman on the Southern Pacific Railroad for several years. He married Anastasia Blazek in 1937 in Wallis, and she joined him in his railroad work across west Texas. Frank later became a successful farmer in Wallis, working the land for over 50 years. He was the first in Austin County to raise cantaloupes on his truck farm. Frank also ran a popular fruit and barbecue stand for many years. He was a dedicated member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and the K.J.T. He attended Guardian Angel Catholic School. He was a wonderful husband and father who enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing his harmonica, making homemade sausage and wine, telling stories and spending time with his family. He was a warm, caring man whose kindness touched us all. An abundance of love and cherished memories fill the emptiness we feel in our hearts. We will forever miss him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie, his parents and his seven brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his five children: sons, Tom Nowak and his wife, Janice, of Needville and Willie Nowak and his wife, Sherry, of Wallis; daughters, Kathy Janecek and her husband, Ben, of Katy, Mary Jean Ferrell and her husband, Steve, of Wallis and Annette Kovar and her husband, Bennie Jr., of Rosenberg; eight grandchildren, Greg Nowak and his wife, Angie, of Sugar Land, Sara Nowak of Wallis, Chris Janecek of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Kevin Janecek of Katy, Virginia and Frankie Ferrell of Wallis and Kim and Tina Kovar of Rosenberg; two great-grandchildren, Melanie and Garrett Nowak of Sugar Land and numerous nieces and nephews.
