Wharton Journal-Spectator 15 Mar 2002 He was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Praha the son of Charles J. and Hermina Vanek Okruhlik. He moved to Hungerford at the age of three and lived there all of his life. He was a self-employed farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany during World War II for two years. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and KJ.T. Lodge No. 79 in Hungerford. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 226 in East Bernard. A rosary was recited Sunday, March 10, at 6 p.m. at the Wharton Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was held Monday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church with Father Henry Rachunek officiating. Burial followed in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Isabel and Frank Mican of Hungerford; nieces, Agnes Minks and husband, Charlie, of East Bernard and Bridget Stunz and husband David, of Boling; nephew, Michael Mican and wife, Betty Jo, of East Bernard; two great-nieces, three great-nephews, three great-great nephews and one great-great niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Martin Okruhlik on July 22, 1997. Pallbearers were Charlie Minks, Michael Mican, David Stunz, B.C. Vinek, David Minks and Robert Lev.
