Banner Press Aug 31, 2000 Abstract of Obituary Services for Henry Otto Pachal, Jr, 73, of Bellville were held Aug 24 at Knesek Bros/Ellinger Funeral Chapel in Bellville with the Rev Jeff English officiating. Burial followed at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Pachal died Aug 22 in Bellville. He was born May 20, 1927 in Columbus, Tx, the son of Henry William Sr and Lolo Minnie (Mehrens) Pachal. He was raised in Columbus and Weimar, and attended Oak Grove School. Pachal was united in marriage with Alta Fay Ryman on May 28, 1949 in Bellville. He was a farmer and rancher, and both he and his wife did custom farm work for over 30 years in the Bellville area. He won numerous awards for calf roping and other rodeo events held at the county fair. Pachal helped fight the Texas City fire by driving a fire truck from Columbus to Texas City. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great-grandson, Thomas Johnson, Jr. Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Ann and Kosta Valius of Houston, and Sandra Johnson of Bellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Darlene Pachal of Houston; a sister, Leona Wagley of Weimar; grandchildren, Thomas and April Johnson, Stephen and Cindy Johnson, Joseph Pachal, Becky McKinney, Regina and David Demny and Angela Howard and Jacob Pachal; 4 great-grandchildren, and a nephew, Vernon Wagley and his wife, Jeri of Weimar. Pallbearers were Tommy and Stephen Johnson, Joseph and Jacob Pachal, David Demny, Edwin "Sonny" Slovak and Vernon Wagley. Knesek Family Funeral Chapels, Bellville, directors.
