Victoria Advocate online Friday June 22, 2001 Flatonia -- Emil H. Pavlica, 81, of Flatonia and Praha, died Thursday, June 21, 2001. He was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Flatonia, to the late Wenzel and Angelina Kocian Pavlica. He was a café owner and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and was a member of the American Legion and DAV. Survivors: daughters, Dianna Benedict Kallus of La Grange; son, Michael Pavlica of Flatonia; sisters, Angelina Hunke of Columbus and Delores Bretting of Houston; brother, Tedo Pavlica of Flatonia; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: wife, Judith Pavlica; parents; and one brother. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Smith Funeral Home chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Praha, the Rev. Edward Bartsch officiating.Burial will be at Praha Catholic Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home, Flatonia, 361-865-3311.
