Wilson County News 16 Jul 2003 1922-2003 Gertrude "Trudy" Pavliska joyfully joined her Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2003. She was born on June 10, 1922. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William J. Pavliska Sr.; her son, William J. Pavliska Jr. and wife Linda; her daughter, Jan Collins and son-in-law Bill; her sister, Henrietta "Friti" Gillis and husband Norbert "Gill"; her sisters-in-law, Lillian Schwertlich, Angel Zimmerhanzel, and Martha Bruckner; her grandchildren, Leslie Pavliska, Jon Brian "J.B." Pavliska, Josh Pavliska, David Collins and wife Sara, Michelle Collins, and Jennifer Collins; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gertrude believed firmly in preserving one's heritage, and was very active in S.P.J.S.T., the Czech Heritage Society, K.J.Z.T., the Texas Folklife Festival, and the Catholic Daughters of America. Gertrude supported many religious and children's charities, and wishes that any remembrance of her is made to one of these in lieu of flowers. Visitation was held Sunday, July 13, at 5 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapel South. A rosary was held in the Holy Name Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas, at 7 p.m. Sunday. Mass was celebrated on Monday at noon in the Holy Name Catholic Church, with interment following in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Posted by Matt Cross
