Wilson County News 23 Apr 2003 1913-2003 Prosper Pawelek of Karnes City, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2003, at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 28 days. He was born on June 17, 1913, in Wilson County, Texas, to Leon and Annie Pollok Pawelek. Mr. Pawelek married Gertrude Dziuk on July 23, 1935, in Falls City, Texas. He was a rancher and farmer. He also was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Fashing, Texas. Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 15, in Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City. Services were held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. Interment followed in Falls City Cemetery in Falls City, Texas. Father Adrian Adamik officiated the services. Pallbearers were Stephen Pruski, Douglas Pruski, Scott Behrends, Clark Behrends, Brian Moczygemba, and Brad Moczy-gemba. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Stanley Pawelek, Leon Pawelek, Gabriel Pawelek, and Raymond Pawelek; sisters Cornelia Mutz, Christine Zaiontz, and Victoria Palitza; and sons-in-law Christian Behrends and Eldren Pruski. Survivors include wife Gertrude Pawelek of Karnes City; a son, George Pawelek of Karnes City; daughters Lorraine Pruski of San Antonio, Texas, Vivian Behrends of Luckenbach, Texas, Helen Moczygemba and husband Wilbert Lee of San Antonio, and Barbara Kotara and husband Larry of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in
