Kelly Payne, age 19, of Whitney, formerly of Abbott passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003 in Richardson, Texas.

Rosary will be recited 8 pm Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption in West.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 pm Thursday in St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney.

Miss Payne was born September 10, 1983 in Waco and had been a resident of West for three years, before moving to Abbott in 1986 and then moved to Whitney in August of 2002.

While in Abbott she was a member of the Abbott High School Golf team, Basketball team and UIL team. Miss Payne was a member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and served as the Worthy Advisor from August 2001 until February 2002. She also served as a United States Student Ambassador representing the United States in Australia in 2002. She graduated from Abbott High School in 2002 and was attending MCC. She was also employed at S&K Menswear in the Outlet Mall in Hillsboro.

She is survived by her parents, James and Rose Mary Payne of Whitney, a brother Jason Payne of Hurst, grandparents, Adolph Kolar S. and Elizabeth Kolar of West; Mrs. Ruby Payne of Hillsboro and the late James R. Payne who died in 1984; a nephew Nykolas Payne of Hurst and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Active pallbearers will be Adolph Kolar Jr., Frankie Kolar, Jerry Wood, James Wood, James De Luca and Gary Sulak.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Marty Hevencamp, John Milburn, Bobby McGregor, Jack Beavers, Willie Payne, Max Ombert and all members of Masonic Lodge #196 of Hillsboro.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the Rainbow Girls Scholarship Fund in memory of Kelly, Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #196, P.O. Box 264, Hillsboro, TX 76645.

Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
