Mr. George W. Pechacek, 71, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at his home in Ennis.

He was born May 29, 1931 in Vernon, the son of William L. and Louise Zbranek Pechacek. He attended Lockett High School. After finishing school, he worked on the family farm in Lockett. He then entered the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he worked for Whittle's Music Shop in Dallas. On Feb. 7, 1954 he was married to Evelyn L. Haseloff.

After their marriage, they lived in Garland. In 1964, they moved to Ennis. After receiving his FCC license, he began working as a chief engineer for KLIF, KBOX and KMEZ radio stations in Dallas. From 1980-1989 he was employed at AA Repair in Ennis.

In 1989, he was employed by the Texas Highway Department in Dallas, Repairing radio systems. He retired in 1993. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church Waxahachie.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Ennis; two sons, Greg and his wife, Ann Pechacek of Ennis and Larry Pechacek and Rhonda Beaird; two daughters, Cecilia and her husband, Don Ivey of Greenville and Angela Pechacek of Tyler; a brother and his wife, Ernest and JoAnne Pechacek of Mineral Wells; a sister, Helen Pechacek of Irving; two brothers-in-law, William and his wife Juanita Haseloff of Vernon, and Adolph Haseloff of Farwell, Tx; two sisters-in-law, Vyanoma Pechacek of Longview and Gertrude and her husband, Fred Hammonds of Crowell; and two grandchildren, Katelyn and Joshua.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John Catholic Church with Father Michael Guadagnoli as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Building Fund.
