Oscar Adolph Pechacek, 79, of San Angelo died Friday, Jan. 31, 1997, in a local hospital after a sudden illness.

Rosary will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Maurice Voity officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Oscar was born to Emil and Elizabeth Pechacek in Halletsville, Texas, June 20, 1917. He married Dora Schwertner on Dec. 30, 1940, in Rowena.

Oscar farmed in the Eola, Norton and St. Lawrence communities until he retired in 1986, and moved to San Angelo. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Charles and Marie Pechacek of St. Lawrence, Pat and Laverne Hall of Sweetwater and Bill and Sharon Baird of Ballinger; six grandchildren and their spouses, Curtis and Missy Pechacek, Stephen and Michele Halfmann, Jimmy Deckard, Chuck Deckard, Mark Baird and Travis Baird; eight great- grandchildren, Leland, Taylor and Brandi Pechacek, Justin Troy and Leah Halfmann and Amanda and Dustin Deckard; two sisters, Dee Yuncker and Bernice Pechacek of Midland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Baird of Ballinger and Laverne Hall of Sweetwater; a son, Charles Pechacek of Garden City; and six grandchildren.
