KJT News January 2003 Minnie Sablatura, 92, went to her heavenly reward December 4, 2002. She was born in Taiton on October 26, 1910 to August and Louise Pratka. She married Ludwig "Louie" Sablatura on February 20, 1928 and lived in Ganado from 1928 until 1936. Then they moved to Robstown and were members of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. In 1943 they moved to Banquete for seven years. Minnie and Louie moved to the Annaville area where they operated the S. & M Lumber Company. Minnie worked at the Annaville Elementary School cafeteria where all the kids called her Grandma. She loved her job and was very upset when the school board said she had to retire at age 70. She was devoted member of St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic. She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. You could always hear her reciting the Rosary before each daily Mass. She loved to bake and made sure Father Morgan received his pigs in the blankets and gave the rest of her baked goodies away. Minnie moved into Heartland Retirement Home in 2000, and from there she moved to Sunnybrook Health Center. She spent the last three days in Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline where she died. She is preceded in death by her husband Louie of 55 years; five brothers, Joe, Alfred, Fred, Bill and Jerome and one sister Olga Juraski. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Martini and Margaret Hoelscher, both of Corpus Christi; one son, Mark Sablatura of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Lena Gregorek and Agnes Tomas, both of Vanderbilt and Helen Bowden of Kingsville; one brother, John Pratka of Edna; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 5 [2002] in St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, December 6 [2002] in St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church with Rev. Morgan Rowsome, pastor, as celebrant. Burial followed in Robstown Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, 3901 Violet Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
