Victoria Advocate March 10, 2002 Ben Salas, 89, of Pledger, Texas died Thursday March 7, 2002. He was born January 18, 1913 in Schulenburg, Texas to the late Vinc and Mary Barbara Hajek Salas. He is survived by daughters and sons in law: Rosemary Prochaska, Sandra and Allen Stavinoha of Wharton, and Elaine and Willie Broll all of Wharton; sons and daughters in law: Dr. Wayne and Carolyn Salas of Lufkin, Paul and Joyce Salas of Bryan, Mike and Lynette of Pledger, Ray and Peggy Salas of Boling, and Armand Salas of Van Vleck; Daughter-in-law: Sallie Salas of Bay City. 21 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosie Salas, son, Carl Salas, granddaughter, Robin Salas Dunham and great-granddaughter, Brooke Salas. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, March 10, 2002 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City. Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 11, 2002 at Holy Cross Catholic Church of Bay City with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck. Arrangements by Taylor Bros. Funeral Home 979-245-4613.
