Houston Chronicle 29 Jun 2003 Alvin Joe Schindler Sr., 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully departed this life on June 26, 2003. His strength, love and devotion will be deeply missed by his family. Born Oct. 1, 1915 in Moulton, Texas to Joe and Emma Schindler, he spent his early years farming. He bravely served his country during WWII, earning a number of medals and the Purple Heart. He later moved to Houston where he enjoyed a 20-year career at Hughes Tool Co. Alvin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claradale; children, Alvin (Sherry) Schindler of Crosby, Alan (Carol) Schindler of San Antonio, Elaine (Greg) Hines of Houston, Brenda (Gerry) Sullivan of Clifton, Virginia, Kenneth (Melinda) Schindler of Tomball, Sandy Landry of Houston; sister, Glorine Blocker of Canyon Lake; thirteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday, June 29 at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home from 3-8pm, with a Vigil-Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2003 at
St. Matthew the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9915 Hollister Dr., with Rev. Robert
Tucker, S.C.J. celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Houston National
