Victoria Advocate July 7, 2003 Seadrift - Lillie Emilie Teltschik Banse Schmalstieg, 88, of Seadrift, died Sunday, July 6, 2003. She was born Jan. 6, 1915, in Oakland, to the late Herman Otto and Mary Till Teltschik. She graduated from Weimar High School, worked at the first H.E.B. in Corpus Christi during WWII and became manager of the H.E.B. store in Sinton. She was active in farming and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Seadrift and the Senior Citizens of Seadrift. Survivors: daughters, Darlene Banse Schmalstieg Kunkel of Victoria, Sue Schmalstieg Henderson of Seadrift and Mary Schmalstieg Dillon of Odem; sisters, Edna Michalke of Schulenburg and Van Lee Ohnheiser of San Marcos; brothers, Alphonse Teltschik of Taft and Leo Teltschik of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: first husband, Alvin Banse; second husband, Neal Schmalstieg; and parents. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Seadrift. Burial will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Taft Cemetery in Taft. Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, Port Lavaca, 361-552-2988.
