Funeral Services for Ellie Martinak Schmidt, 79, of Industry were held Mon, Apr 12, 1999, 10 a.m. at Zaskoda Chapel with burial in the Krebs Family Cemetery in the Willow Springs, Tx community. The Rev. Walter Schindehette, Salem Lutheran Church, Welcome, Tx, officiated.

Mrs. Schmidt died April at home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born Sept 9, 1919 in the Willow Springs/Haw Creek, Tx community, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary Krebs Martinak. She married Monroe Schmidt on Sept 20, 1940, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Warrenton, Tx. She was a cafeteria worker and a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Welcome, Tx.

Survivors include her husband, Monroe Schmidt, Sr. of Brenham; one daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Robert Sherrard of Kenney; two sons and daughters-in-law, Monroe, Jr. and Verna Schmidt of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Robert Lee and Patti Janda Schmidt of Pflugerville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther and Erwin Stoerner of La Grange and Frances and Lloyd Lahrmann of Houston and Industry; and one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ruth Hilsher Martinak of Fayetteville and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin, and her parents.

Koenig-Peel and Strickland Funeral Home was incharge of the arrangements.
