The Fayette County Record Feb 1, 2000 Abstract of Obituary Funeral services for Elo W. Schobel, 86, were held Jan 29 at United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swiss Alp with the Rev Walter F Hilderbrandt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. He died Jan 26 in Fayette Memorial Hospital. He was born May 6, 1913 in Shaws Bend, the son of August and Laouise (Stoffeld) Schobel. He married Pauline Pietzsch on Aug 5, 1950 in East Bernard. He was a farmer and a member of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swiss Alp. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers, Walter, Edmund, Rudolph, Alvin, Charles, Bennie, Alfred and Louis Schobel; sister, Frieda Collins; and parents. Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce & Don Steinmann of La Grange, Ruby & Jimmy Branham of Baytown; brother and sister-in-law, Herman & Tina Schobel of Weimar; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Schobel of Columbus and Violet Schobel of Round Top; and 5 grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Steinmann of La Grange and Stephanie, Jennifer and Taylor Branham of Baytown.
