New Ulm Enterprise May 4, 2000 Abstract of Obituary Funeral services for Raymond Willie Schovajsa, 68, of Brenham were held May 1 in the Salem Welcome Lutheran Church with Pastor Walter Schindehette officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. He died April 27 in Temple. He was born Aug 31, 1931 in Bleiberville, the son of Frank J. and Frances (Zettel) Schovajsa. He married Betty Thielemann on April 7, 1956 in Nelsonville Brethren Church. He attended Santa Anna Country School in Austin County. He served in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the US Army in Fort Knox, Ky., and was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome and the Sons of Hermann, SPJST at Bleiberville. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dorwin. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Brenham; sons, Donald and wife Alice Schovajsa, Michael and wife Kerri Schovajsa, all of Welcome; 3 grandchildren, Brandon, Chad and Cory Schovajsa; 1 step-grandson, Calvin Makowski, Jr. and wife Carrier; 1 step-great-grandson, Rinn Makowski; sister, Gloria Brooks and husband Norman of Houston; 2 nieces, Deborah Frazier and Kimberly Hickie; 1 great-niece, Hannah Hickie; and 1 great nephew, Hudson Hickie. Pallbearers were Larry Sodek, Dennie Marek, Louie Krause, Spencer Schneider,
Bennie Trlicek and Glenn Ortz. Funeral handled by the Brenham Memorial Chapel.
