Houston - Frank Joseph Schraer, 68, of Houston, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1983 in Houston.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood St., Houston, with the Rev. Dick Johnson officiating.

Burial followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Hallettsville, with the Rev. Celestino Say officiating.

He was born in Lavaca County, son of Henry and Lydia (Schindler) Schraer.

Mr Schraer was a retired accountant, member and past grand knight for Knights of Columbus Council No. 3910, and an usher for Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

He was a longtime chairman of the Knights of Columbus Country Store at the Holy Ghost Bazaar, veteran of World War II, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by is wife, Mrs. Wilhelmina Schraer; a son, James Patrick Schraer, both of Bellaire; a daughters, Mrs. Shirley Patricia Kirkpatrick of Waco; three half brothers, Arnold Schraer of Lowake, Ervin Schraer of Miles, and Henry Schraer Jr. of San Angelo; one half sister, Mrs. Alton (Madeline Seidel of San Angelo; and a sister, Mrs. Rudolph (Elizabeth) Grengross of Olfen, near Rowena; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nov. 4, 1917; his father, Dec. 24, 1964; and his beloved stepmother, Mary Mueller Schraer, who raised him and his sister, Elizabeth.
