Fayette County Record Tuesday, April 16, 2002 Page 12 Lambert Carl Schumann, 80, of La Grange and formerly of Austin, died Friday, April 12 [2002] in Fayette Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, April 15 [2002] at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial in the La Grange City Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Bragdon officiated. Schumann was born Jan. 20, 1922 in La Grange, the son of Walter F. and Ida (Tramp) Schumann. He married Christiana Ruth Kasper Feb. 25, 1950 in La Grange. He was a carpenter in commercial construction and member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local #1266 and served during World War II in the Army under General George Patton on the beaches of Normandy and in Germany. Survivors include two daughters, Lana Swearingen and husband Tommy of Warda and Betty Ward of College Station; four grandchildren, Amy Newman and husband David of College Station, Wes Swearingen of Warda, Emilie and Sarah Ward of College Station; and two brothers Gilbert Schumann and wife Sydonia of La Grange and Walter Schumann and wife Frances of Warda. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan. 30 [2002] of this year, and his parents. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church parking lot. Sergeant Memorial Funeral Home of La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
