Temple - William J. "Babe" Talasek, beloved husband, father, grandfather & greatgrandfather passed away at this residence in Temple on May 21, 2001.

He was born in the Temple area to the Rev. Joe Talasek and Emma Horak Talasek on Sept. 16, 1924 and lived here all his life. He and his devoted wife Cris were married on June 1, 1984, in Corpus Christi.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Temple with Dr. Jerry Carlisle and Dr. Rodney Bolejack officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Talasek has been owner of the William Talasek Mutual of Omaha, and has been the recipient of countless honors and awards for outstanding accomplishments. He was a past president of Life Underwriters Association, and was a lifelong member of SPJST Lodge #47, was a charter member and past president of the Central Texas Sportsman Club, and will be best remembered as a sportsman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.

Survivors are wife Cris of Temple; two daughters, Pat Ahrens of Belton and Lana Farmer and husband Vernon of Moffatt; two sons, Tommy Stanford, Jr. and wife Linda of Richardson and Ricky Stanford of Temple; grandchildren, Lindsey Ahrens of Georgetown, Tiffini Fittig and husband Daron of Waco, Dustin Farmer of Sugar Land, Crystal Stanford of Waco, Trey and Landon Stasnford of Richardson, and great-granddaughter, Taylor Fittig of Waco; two brothers, Reuben D. Talasek and wife Bernice and Dan B. Talasek and wife Betty, both of Temple.

Pallbearers will be Wilford Budwine, Dustin Farmer, Frank Freytag, Pat Janca, Dr. Andrew Jew, Reuben Marek, Drayton McLane Sr., Drayton McLane, Jr., John McClaren, J.D. Paulk, Doug Ray and Dr. Jack Weinblatt.
