Sept 10, 1998 Abstract of Obituary Funeral services for Hattie Ann Scherpig Thorn were held Sept. 9, 1998 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville with Pastor Willie Rotter officiating. Graveside services were scheduled for today at the Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston. Mrs. Thorn passed away Sept. 4 in Sealy. Born August 23, 1918 in New Ulm she was the daughter of Otto and Louise Dierke Scherpig. She was united in marriage with William H. "Bill" Thorn on Oct. 7, 1967 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Houston. Mrs. Thorn was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. Survivors include her stepsons, Lynn Thorn of Hawley and Vick Thorn and his wife Kathleen of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Cody and Acacia Thorn, also of Melbourne; sisters, Elsie Lover of New Ulm and Hilda Simmons and her husband Herbert of Orange; brother, Roy Karasek and his wife Jean Rosenberg. She ws preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home of Bellville.
