Funeral services for Florence E. Tobias, 82, of La Grange were held Monday, August 27, 2001, at 10 A. M. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, La Grange, with burial following in the La Grange City Cemetery. The Rev. Arlyn Hausmann officiated.

Florence Tobias died on August 25 in La Grange.

She was born on January 15, 1919 in Weimar, the daughter of Charles M. and Hilda H. Sachs Wern. She was a resident of La Grange since 1927. she married her first husband, Dr. W. L. Salm. on July 3, 1940; her second husband, Hollis D. Bremer on February 19, 1965; and her third husband, Charlie Tobias, on August 25, 1984.

She was preceded in death by her first two husbands.

A retired teacher, she was a secretary for the La Grange Independent School District for a long time, taught school in the Holman and West Point Schools, member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Grange, VFW Auxiliary, Herman Sons Lodge No. 8, and American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie Tobias of La Grange; one daughter, Linda Beth Ripple of Houston; two stepsons, Don and Jim Bremer of Washington; one sister-in-law, Hilda Wern of Dallas; one niece, Peggy Miller of Dallas; grandchildren, Trevor Ripple and wife, Heather, Kenyon Ripple and Laura Ripple; and one great-grandchild, Ashley Ripple.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, brother, and son-in-law, Dennis Ripple.
