Funeral services for Earl L. Townsend, 90 of LaGrange were held July 11 at the Heights Funeral Home in Houston. Burial was in the Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston. The Rev. Keith Newmann officiated.

Mr. Townsend died July 9 in LaGrange. Born Feb 5, 1908 in Houston, he was the son of Levi Allen and Matie (Dreaher) Townsend. He married his first wife, Ruth Shaver, on Sept. 9, 1932 and his second wife, Florence Webb on Sept. 24, 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother-in-law and first and second wives.

Survivors include a niece and her husband, Frances and Jack Stepchinski and family of LaGrange; a cousin and his wife, Edwin and Doris Townsend and family of Baytown; and special friends, Ruth and Dempsey Hunter of Houston.

Heights Funeral Home of Houston was in charge of arrangements.
