We are gathered here this afternoon to pay our last tributes to the
servant of Christ, Mr. Ignac Trefny, who passed away at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday,
November 28, 1956 at his home.
Mr. Trefny was born July 31, 1867 in Austria, near Prague, where he attended school and learned the shoemaker trade. At the age of nineteen he immigrated to the United States and lived in Chicago where he worked in a factory until he came to Texas where he was engaged in the shoemaker trade at Ammansville. In 1899 he married Miss Louis Klas and moved to the Wildwood section near Weimar where they farmed until the year 1930 when he moved to Weimar and entered once again in the shoe-making business until he retired in the year 1945. For the past eight years he made his home with his son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Trefny. Mr. Trefny's wife preceded him in death on June 19, 1951. Two daughters also preceded him in death. He is survived by seven children: Mrs. George H. (Gertie) Brandt of La Grange, Louis and Charlie Trefny of Weimar, Mrs. Oscar (Tillie) Brandt of Weimar, George Trefny of Waco, Mrs. Arthur (Adeline) Brandt of La Grange, and Mrs. Herbert F. (Emmie) Klesel of Schulenburg. He is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mr. Trefny reached the age of 89 years, 3 months and 27 days. Along with his many relatives, he is survived by a host of friends. Rev. Frank Henry Horak, Jr. performing the service.
