W. Ummelman Houston Rites

Walter Ummelman of Houston, died Thursday, May 6, 1982 in a Houston nursing home at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 13 days.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Houston with burial in the Houston Cemetery.

Mr. Ummelman, one of eight children, was born August 23, 1896, at Witting, near Shiner, son of Herman and Maria (Albrecht) Ummelmann. He was reared on the family farm and attended the Witting School.

He married Edna Boehm, Oct. 3, 1918. She preceded him in death in 1977.

Mr. Ummelman is survived by three daughters, Lorine Skarke, Elvira Campbell, and Verna Mae Sears; 10 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by his mother, Nov. 15, 1911; his father, June 29, 1930; stepmother, Mrs. Bertha Wehmann Ummelmann, nee Lehmann, Aug. 25, 1924; two brothers, Arthur G. Ummelmann Mar. 10, 1972; Herman Ummelmann Jr. May 21, 1948; five sisters, Mrs. Frank (Antonia) Wehmann, Mar. 5, 1973; Ida Ummelmann, Oct. 1, 1882, Mrs. Rud. H. (Annie) Boethel, Dec. 11, 1971; Mrs. Edna Wehmann and Mrs. Rudolph (Lillie) Regnor.
