Victoria Advocate online Tuesday September 11, 2001 He was born July 17, 1915, in Moravia, to the late Charles and Agnes Zatopek Zapalac. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, KJZT, 96 Infantry Division, Old Timers Baseball Association and the American Legion. He was a retired salesman for Grocery Company and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors: wife, Agatha Pavlicek Zapalac; daughters, Jan Lahodny and Juanita Ervin, both of Schulenburg; sister, Julia Barta of Gonzales; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: parents; and one sister. A rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. tonight at Smith Funeral Home chapel in Flatonia. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rev. Charles Carolan officiating. Burial will be at Praha Catholic Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home, Flatonia, 361-865-3311.
