MARGUERITE (ELSTNER) ZAPPE

Mr.s Henry F. Zappe, nee Marguerite Elstner, of 202 Ridge St., of Hallettsville died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 1976 in Renger Memorial Hospital.

The body lay in state at the Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville until 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, when it was taken to Sacred Heart Catholic Church where funeral services followed at 3:30 p.m. with Holy Mass offered by the Rev. Douglas Fater.

Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Hallettsville. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, George, Rick and Jim Pat Berger, Charles and Paul Henry Sommers and Ralph Seifert.

The Rosary was recited Thursday evening at Kubena Funeral Home chapel where the body lay in state.

Mrs. Zappe, one of 13 children, was born January 29, 1893 in the Appelt's Hill community north of Hallettsville, daughter of Carl J. and Helena (Appelt) Elstner. She was married to Henry F. Zappe on September 4, 1919 in Hallettsville and they made their home at Appelt's Hill where they resided for a number of years before moving to Hallettsville. Her husband died Oct. 16, 1963.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George Berger of Weimar and Mrs. Mickey Seifert of Houston; seven sisters, Mrs. Herbert Pohl, Mrs. Edgar Appelt and Mrs. Gus J. (Mary Lee) Strauss of Hallettsville, Mrs. H.B. (Della) Sommers of San Antonio, Mrs. Jay Poth of Comfort, Mrs. A.B. (Ann) George of Austin and Mrs. John (Delores) Toland of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Hilton Elstner of Hallettsville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, April 22, 1958; her father; two brothers, Carl J. Elstner, Nov. 1, 1962; and William Elstner; and two sisters.
