FRANCES (PTACEK) ZBRANEK

Following cremation, a memorial funeral mass for Frances Louise Zbranek, 84, of East Bernard, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with Rev. Dan Ruppert officiating.

Mrs. Zbranek died Oct. 10, 2002, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Wharton County to the late Frank and Julia Zahradnik Ptacek Sr.

She was a lifelong resident of Wharton County and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Mrs. Zbranek married Frank Zbranek on Sept. 26, 1937, in Wharton County and he preceded her in death in 1986.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosie Zbranek; a brother, Frank Ptacek Jr.; and a step-brother, John Urban.

Mrs. Zbranek worked with her husband on the family farm and later as a cook for the Smokehouse Restaurant until her retirement.

Survivors include son, Frank Paul Zbranek of East Bernard; sisters, Julia Bartos of East Bernard, Barbara Brenk of Angleton, Annie Maly of East Bernard and Mary Townsend of El Campo; step-sisters, Josephine Vacek of East Bernard and Sophie Scholz of Wharton; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
