M. Zimmerman Young Father Placed At Rest

Many hearts were saddened and grieved when it became known that Milton Edwin Zimmerman, 6011 Brook Lea, Houston, had passed away very suddenly at his home at 2:00 a.m. Monday, June 17, 1963 at the age of 30 years, 5 months and 29 days.

Although he was receiving medical care for a heart condition for the past 13 years, his sudden, unexpected death came as a profound shock to his family and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Cullen Chapel in Houston at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19 with the Rev. T. A. Sproles officiating. The body was brought to the Shiner City Cemetery in the afternoon where graveside services and burial were held at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Henry Beseda officiating.

Serving as active pallbearers were his fellow employees, W. P. Donlin, Alvin L. Nettles, Frank H. Bogar, Tom J. Brooks, Lewis W. Martin Jr., and Marley F. Olsen all of Houston.

Mr. Zimmerman was born December 18, 1932 at Shiner, son of Edwin and Julia (Malina) Zimmerman. He received his formal education at the Beasley School, Shiner High School, where he graduated in 1950 as salutatorian of his class, and Baldwin Business College.

He was a valued employee of the Dixie Pipe Sales for the past 12 years and at the time of his passing held the position of assistant manager.

He was married to Harvy Thornton December 27, 1958 in Houston, who survives along with their three-month-old daughter, Ann Leigh; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Zimmerman of Shiner; brother, Marvin Zimmerman of Houston; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frances Malina; his paternal grandfather, Willie Zimmerman; and scores of relatives and friends.

He was a lifelong member of the Shiner Brethren Church where he was baptized and confirmed.

A large outpouring of relatives and friends gathered to pay their final respects and accompany the remains to their last resting place.

Many beautiful flowers breathed a fragrant message of sympathy to the sorrowing loved ones.

To all who knew and loved him, and to his immediate family and near relatives, we extend sincerest sympathy.
