Services for Bertha Geistmann Zubicek, 91, of Cat Spring were held Oct 7 at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy with the Rev Eugene Timm officiating. Burial followed at St John Lutheran Cemetery in Cat Spring.

Zubicek died Oct 4 in Bellville.

She was born April 26, 1909 in Frelsburg, Tx, the daughter of Julius and Mary (Schertz) Geistmann. She was raised in Frelsburg and attended the Boggy Branch public schools in the Pisek Community.

Zubicek was united in marriage with Sam Zubicek on Jan 26, 1932, in Frelsburg. She was a homemaker all her life, and a member of the Catholic faith and Cat Spring Volunteer Fire Dept Auxiliary.

Zubicek was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers Anton and Walter Geistmann; and 3 sisters, Katherine Bertsch, Minnie Grayson and Elnora Kansteiner.

Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Darlene Zubicek of Sealy and Edwin and Sharon Zubicek of Cat Spring; a sister, Caroline Moeller of Frelsburg; 5 grandchildren, Eric, Vincent and Kristen Zubicek, Brian Gardner and Marcy Whitley, and 6 great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brent Bergen, Stetson Whitley, and Tyler, Harley and Marcie Garner. Pallbearers were Eric and Vincent Zubicek, Brian Gardner, Jesse Whitley, Jimmy Szymanski and Delbert Kulhanek. Knesek Family Funeral Chapels, Sealy, directors

(Note:She was a niece of Msgr. Robert P. Schertz, who was the pastor in Westphalia for many years.)
