Brother H. A. Belk was born near Birmingham, County of
Jefferson, State of Alabama, on Dec. 28, 1850, and at an early age in
life moved to Texas and settled near what was then called Corn Hill,
Texas, in Williamson County.
On Saturday, May 25, 1878, Brother Belk was united in marriage to
Miss Nancy Harrison, and to this union were born four
children, two of whom still survive.
Brother Belk was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on
September 14, 1889. He was passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on
October 12, 1889, and was raised to the sublime degree of a Master
Mason on November 9, 1889, in Corn Hill Lodge No. 567 A.F. & A.
M., located at Corn Hill, Texas, in Williamson County.
In 1897, Brother Belk moved to Bell County and for about ten years
lived near Killeen, Texas, where he was engaged in farming. He
demitted from Corn Hill Lodge No. 567 on June 5, 1897, and on
February 22, 1902, he affiliated with South Noian Lodge No. 416 A.F.
& A. M., located at Killeen Texas.
He demitted from South Nolan Lodge No. 416 on October 23, 1909,
and on December 9, 1909, he affiliated with Lake Victor Lodge No.
1011 A.F. & A. M. as a charter member.
In choosing the first officers of Lake Victor Lodge No. 1011 A.F.
& A. M., Brother Belk was chosen to be the first Senior Steward,
and he was duly and constitutionally installed as such on January 1,
1910. He demitted from Lake Victor Lodge No. 1011 on August 8, 1911.
He died on December 22, 1924.
