George Lacy kills Code Phillips

THE BURNET COUNTY TRAGEDY
An Inquest Held on the Body of Code Phillips

Marble Falls, Tex., June 5.  -- George Lacy came to town yesterday and said that he had shot and killed his brother-in-law, Code Phillips, a few hours before, near his (Lacy's) residence, and gave directions by which the officers could find the body of Phillips.  Justice Tucker, with Officer Miller and a jury repaired to the place of the killing last night and an inquest was held.  The jury have not brought in a verdict yet, but the facts as brought to light indicate that family trouble was the cause of the killing.  Both men are old and wealthy citizens of Burnet county and have numerous friends and relatives.  They own a great deal of land in this county and heretofore have always been on friendly terms.

Burnet, Tex.  June 5.  -- The killing of Code Phillips by George Lacey, near Granite mountain, this county, yesterday evening has caused considerable excitement and universal regret.  Both parties are wealthy and popular citizens.  The cause is said to be family troubles.  Lacey came in last night and surrendered.
