Benjamin Leroy Sparks

was born in Burnet on October 7, 1914.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also the Korean War.

His parents were Benjamin Warden Sparks, born in Burnet in 1881, and Mattie Ann Walker, daughter of Robert Walker and Margaret Beavers who moved to Fairland, Burnet County in 1905.

Benjamin Warden was a Deputy Constable in Dallas County from 1919 to 1922 when he joined the Texas Rangers on October 7, 1922. He was murdered in Dallas on July 20, 1924 by James Harvey Harper.

Benjamin Warden was the son of James Madison Sparks and Mrs. Levinia Moore Roberts who were married in Burnet in 1879.
