Pioneer Resident of Burnet Co. to be Buried Thursday
John C. Watkins,
pioneer resident of the Bachelor Peak community in
Burnet County,
passed away Tuesday afternoon at 3:10 at his home.
He was eighty
years old at the time of this death.
The deceased was born on Feb. 1, 1858 in Missouri but
came to Texas
when only a small child. He has lived in Burnet
County for many
years. He is survived by seven children;
Mrs. Henry Berry of Lampasas, J.
C. Watkins Jr., of Electra, Mrs.
T. M. Blake of Dublin, Joe
Watkins of Brady, Mrs.
K. M. Chamblis of Borger,
Vernon Watkins of Borger and Mrs.
Reno
Brewster of Bertram. He is also survived
by one
sister, Mrs. John Wolf
of Lake
Victor.
Funeral services for Mr. Watkins will be held Thursday
morning at 10
o'clock at the Holland cemetery near Lake Victor.
Bro. Silas
Howell, Church of Christ minister, will be in charge of
the
services. The Briggs-Gamel funeral directors were
in charge of
the funeral arrangements.
