Lillian Mae Crowl

Lillian Mae Crowl, 93, Port Lavaca, died on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003.

She born Nov. 28, 1909, in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lloyd Oyster and Gertrude Bennett Oyster. She was married to the late Lester Crowl. She was a retired cashier and waitress having worked at Moo-Moo’s and White’s Bar-B-Q.
In addition to her late parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Woodward and a brother, George Oyster.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Crenshaw of Port Lavaca, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Fitzpatrick, Michael Bland, Tom Crenshaw and John Crenshaw. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Paul Bunnell, Debra Bland, Kim Maxwell, Cameron Bland, Connor Bland, Sean Fitzpatrick, Jenni Smith, Ryan Maxwell and Nicole Redford.

Memorials may be made to the Port Lavaca Nursing and Rehab. Center.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, 361-552-2988.

William S. Hess Jr.

William S. Hess Jr., 78, of Port Alto, died on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003.

He was born Aug. 17, 1924 in Houston, the son of the late W. S. Hess and Ruth Estelle Williams Hess. He was married to the late Anna Margaret Hess. He was employed as a general maintenance foreman for Gulf Coast Portland Cement Co. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Hess.

Survivors include a son, W. S. Hess III of Marked Tree, Ark.; a sister, Ellen Silham of Houston; two brothers, Raymond Hess of Houston and Albert Hess of New Mexico; 6 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, Jan. 4 in the Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phil Colquitt officiating. Burial was in the Olivia Cemetery, under the auspices of VFW Post 4403. Pallbearers were Robert M. Hess, Warren Schuhsler, David Mitchell, Adam Vickery, Ken Morris and Mark Hess.

Arrangements were under the direction of Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, 361-552-2988.
