engaged in teh mercantile business at Jefferson, Marion Co.,
Tx. He was very successful and in 1880 went to Ft Worth and was
there engaged in business six years. He was still connected with
the Merchant's National Bank of Ft Worth to the extent of $20,000,
and the State National Bank of the same place to the amount of
$5,000, both institutions on a sound financial basis. After his
return to Cass Co., Tx. he became a stockholder in the Bank of
Atlanta, owning a sixth interest and on Mar 20, 1888, was appointed

MR ELLINGTON was a man of fine business ability and the success
of the bank is due mainly to his good management. In addition
to his interest in the bank, he has large outside interests,
having land and cattle in the West. Reared in Texas, he had meager
educational opportunities, and is now one of the shrewdest and
most successful men in the country. He served sixteen months

of the best years of his life. Genial and affable in his manner,
he has gained many friends and is especially adapted for the
position he now occupies.
