The Clara Barton Tent will be celebrating its 8th anniversary as a Tent on April 29, 2008, therefore the Sisters who are not Charter members honored the Charter members present at the meeting on April 11, by presenting them with certificates and flags

Today during the Clara Barton Tent meeting, two new members were initiated. One of our new members is from El Paso, Texas, and therefore she was unable to attend the initiation ceremony, but Maxine Heath, our other new member was present and she was welcomed warmly by the Sisters of the Clara Barton Tent

. He pointed out how important it was that railroad and telegraph lines be kept open to the southwest during this time. The gold being mined in California was very important to the Union and transporting it to the mints in the U.S. was a top priority. He also went into detail about the battle that took place at Glorieta Pass.
The Red and Blue States of the Election of 1854
During the meeting on Friday, January 11, 2008, the Sisters of the Clara Barton Tent learn about, "The Red and Blue States of the Elections of 1854 and 1860", from their guest speaker, Dr. William H. Spangenberg.

After their meeting on November 9, 2007, members of the Clara Barton Tent along with their guests travelled out to Comfort, Texas to lay a wreath at the "Treue der Union" Monument. This Monument pays tribute to the Civil War veterans from Kerr, Kenadll, and Gillespie Counties in Texas that remained loyal to the Union, [See our Home page for more information about this monument]
