OBITUARY

TOEWS
ISAAC (IKE) KELVIN, Carrollton, TX, passed away in Dallas on June 5, 2002. He was born in Garfield County, OK on  February 15,  1925, the son of John A. and Anna Kroeker Toews. He served 3 years in the Infantry during World War II and received many honors. He was employed by U.S.  Postal Service for seven years. He moved to Dallas in 1959. He later moved to Farmers Branch where he was owner and operator of the "Ike's Texaco" for  almost 20 years. He was a well liked and respected individual and loved by those who knew him. He was a active member of the First Baptist Church in Farmers Branch since 1964. For many years he sang in the sanctuary choir and taught Sunday School. He was a volunteer with Senior Adult Services for many years. He married Betty Jean Davis on August 29, 1981. Last August they celebrated their 20th anniversary by hosting a dinner with family and special friends. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean; step-daughter, Carolin Best and family of Colorado; brothers, Henry J. Toews, Perry, OK and Ruben Toews, Enid, OK; sisters, Helena Hiebert, Frederick, OK and Sarah Dyck and husband Lloyd, Edmond, OK; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Abe J. Toews and Johnny K. Toews; sister, Esther Goertzen. Family will receive friends 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Friday evening at First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch. Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 8, 2002 at First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch, 13017 William Dodson Pkwy., Farmers Branch, TX 75234. Rev Sam Underwood & Rev. T. M. Shaw officiating. Private interment follow at Furneaux Cemetery, Carrollton, TX. Pallbearers will be Bobby Boyles, George Culpepper, John Dodd, Bill Dozier, John George, Kevin Jones, Jim Patterson, and Jack Witherspoon. Honorary pallbearers will be Mamie Lynn Bell, Dorothy Todd, Mike Hawkins, Bill Marcom, John Myrick, C. Bell Sample, Bill Sparks, Harold Stark, and Dick Tarlton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church choir of First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch.
