John Vinson, age 63 of Hebron, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, in Carrollton. He was born October 4, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to J R and Ruth Vinson. He graduated in 1967 from Plano High School. John married Monette Sewell on June 2, 1967. He was a member of First Baptist Church Hebron for 45 years. Throughout this time he served in various capacities as a music leader, member of the choir, Sunday School teacher and he was an active deacon. John is survived by his wife, Monette of Hebron; daughters, Kelly Vinson of Hebron and Kimberly Woodruff and husband, Joseph of Richmond, Texas; sisters Sharlyne Crisp and husband, Bill of Round Rock, Texas; Beverly Bragg and husband, Steve of Mount Pleasant, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Vinson. He is also survived by his aunts, June Smith of Richardson, Texas; Betty VanHorn of El Reno, Oklahoma; Opal McCain of Atlanta, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John loved to fish and was a member of the Crappie Anglers of Texas Club. One of his most memorable events was the day he and special friend Eddie Turner spent fishing with Jimmy Houston and “Mr. Crappie” Wally Marshall. Although not blood related, he loved special friends, Jim and Cheryln Nattier whose precious children, Matthew and Lillie call John their Paw Paw. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012, at First Baptist Church Hebron. Interment will follow at Furneaux Cemetery in Carrollton. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.
