On March 1, 1929, during the Daughters of the Republic of Texas Convention, a motion was made and passed that the DRT sponsor a junior organization known as the “Children of the Republic of Texas.”  The  first CRT chapter organized was Alamo Mission in San Antonio, With 34 members.

TEXAS PIONEERS CHAPTER
THE HISTORY OF OUR CHAPTER

On November 25, 1991, our chapter held its first meeting.  Our goals were to select a chapter name and elect officers.

Several names were considered including names of special events and places in the Metroplex area, as well as, names of family ancestors.  The final majority vote was to name our chapter “The Texas Pioneers”.

A pioneer is a person who goes before to prepare the way for others.  Our pioneer ancestors prepared the way and formed the foundation of our State.  These courageous individuals gave us a fascinating history of which we are proud.

We, as the Chartering Chapter Members and Children of the Republic of Texas, see ourselves as pioneers – preparing the way for the foundation of our chapter and the study of Texas history.

We thank the Charles Calvin McCoy Chapter of the DRT for sponsoring our Chapter and encouraging our understanding of the importance of our link to the past and the future of Texas
