New Emmaus Cemetery is located on FM 856, 2 miles north of US 79.  New Emmaus Cemetery Assn. , 3140 FM 856 N, Troup, TX 75789, 903-841-4116, Bubba Brewer; Sonny McFarland, 903-842-3168.

Historical Marker

Emmaus was never a large community. Emmaus was settled in the 1860s. At its height it boasted two general stores, two churches, a school and a cotton gin. All that remains is the New Emmaus Baptist Church and its adjacent cemetery. Texas Historical Commission Marker
