James Benjamin SPRUILL was born to Benjamin G. & Mary C.(MC NEIL)SPRUILL, 18 May 1866 in the town of Rusk, Cherokee Co., Texas. Benjamin G. SPRUILL
was one of the SPRUILL family of Tyrrell Co., North Carolina, a very old family there. The MC NEIL'S also came to Texas from North Carolina, and settled in Rusk, on the next piece of land over from the SPRUILL's.
Benjamin and Mary owned a farm on which James worked until leaving home to marry his wife Carrie Bell FREEMAN, 26 Dec 1886 in Mesquite.

In the 1920's, James and Carrie relocated to California, and stayed with their various children until their deaths. The first to pass on was Carrie, on 05 May 1931 in the city of Inglewood, Los Angeles, California. On the 4th of July, 1936, James passed away in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. Both Carrie and James were layed to rest in Inglewood Memorial Cemetery, Inglewood, California. Their Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, 2XGreat Grandchildren and 3XGreat Grandchildren live in various parts of the United States.
