The CCGS Society year begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th. The membership fee is $20.00 per individual or $22.00 per family membership for the Society year and includes:

  • Free attendance to all regularly scheduled programs.
  • A one year subscription to the Collin Chronicles.
  • A one year subscription to the Newsletter.
  • Annual roster, including surname information.
  • Access to the Society's site at MyFamily.com, exclusively for Society members, where members are encouraged to share their experiences, the results of their research, post announcements, and network with other members researching related lines.
  • Enrollment on our mailing list.
  • Collin County Genealogical Society FamilyTreeDNA Project - reduced rates on tests ordered through our project regardless of surname. Both male and females can test. For more information contact: Paula Perkins.
  • Volunteer opportunities. Volunteers abstract and transcribe records, serve on committees, volunteer in the genealogy collection at the library (what a great way to learn what all the collection holds!), assist with workshops and more. Contact a staff member to share your talents.

SECOND WEDNESDAY: Regularly scheduled programs are held on the 2nd Wednesday, September to June, at the W.O. Haggard, Jr. Library, 2501 Coit Road, Plano, Texas 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Society does not meet during the summer months of July and August.

In support of its original objectives, the Society has many projects of an on going nature as well as annual projects to benefit the amateur to professional genealogist. Many educational programs are provided throughout the year, including local community outreach seminars.


Included with CCGS membership are two publications.

Collin Chronicles

Collin Chronicles, Records of Collin County, Texas: Focusing on county history, members' family information, newspaper and primary source abstractions, queries, and cemetery information. Queries concerning Collin County ancestors are free. Please send them to Collin Chronicles Editor at the Society address or email ccgs.chronicles@gmail.com. Past Issues are archived on our private MyFamily site and can also be viewed online at http://texashistory.unt.edu/




Newsletter

The Collin County Genealogical Society Newsletter is published five times a year and features news of interest to Society members. Special events, research tips, news of general genealogy interest and news concerning the Society and its membership are among some of the information published in our award winning newsletter. The CCGS Roster is published on an annual basis and features members' contact information.
